PELC Elects New Board

Jun 25, 2024

Board member Joanna Howard presents the slate of directors for election at the 2024 AGM

A full slate of 13 directors was elected at the PELC Annual General Meeting on Monday, June 24. Board member Joanna Howard presented the results of the Governance Committee’s search for directors, which resulted in three new members joining the Board. Please join us in welcoming them to our team!

PELC came to know Bailey through her work as a Senior Landscape Designer at Victoria Taylor Landscape Architecture. Bailey was a key figure in the revitalization of Macaulay Village Park on the Heights, involved in site planning, shade structure installation and tree planting. She also planned public consultations for Picton’s Delhi Park revitalization. Bailey is currently pursuing a Master of Rural Planning and Development at the University of Guelph. She holds a degree in Environmental Design Studies and a BA in Environment, Sustainability and Society from Dalhousie University. Bailey’s community governance experience includes a position as a director at the Baxter Arts Centre, and she is a new co-owner of a native plant nursery called Dropseed. She grew up in PEC and lives in Picton.

Nicola grew up in Ottawa, and moved to the County in 2012. She was previously employed as the Fund Development Coordinator for the Alzheimer Society of Hastings-Prince Edward. She currently works with a digital marketing agency, consulting with a variety of non-profit organizations to support them in their fundraising efforts. She has previously served as parent council chair for three consecutive years with St. Gregory Catholic School, and has volunteered with the Department of Illumination and the Girl Guides. She is new to PELC and looking forward to contributing to the organization. She believes impactful change begins at the community level, and in meeting people where they are to encourage growth and connection. She has two sons who like to keep her on her toes, and currently lives in Picton.

Emre brings a wealth of experience in policy and non-profit governance to our organization. He has spent 10 years in the Ontario Public Service, with the last six years dedicated to the Ministries of Health and Long-Term Care. Emre holds a Master of Architecture, a Master of Public Policy, a Bachelor of Architecture. Currently, he is completing his PhD full time at the University of Toronto, and working part time in the research and innovation department of Michael Garron Hospital. We are thrilled to welcome Emre and look forward to the valuable insights he will bring to our team.

Outgoing Board Vice-Chair Angie Geridis-Ouimet and Chair Rebecca Lamb at the 2024 AGM

At the meeting, Board Chair Becky Lamb thanked the many PELC volunteers and board members for their ongoing support, reserving a special thanks for outgoing Board Vice-Chair, Angie Geridis-Ouimet.

Angie joined the PELC Board of Directors in January 2021 and stepped into the role of Vice-Chair in 2023. She brought extensive experience in leadership roles in both employment and social support, building awareness and advocating for clients. During her 14 years as a supervisor with Employment Services, she managed multi-million dollar budgets, worked with a strategic network of partners, and gained confidence in interpreting legislation and policy, including OW and ODSP, as well as collective agreements, grievances and human rights. She spent two years as Homeless Services Coordinator and Shelter Manager with the Canadian Red Cross, where she wrote grant proposals and developed community scans, needs assessments and agency linkages to provide support to vulnerable clients. She was also a shift supervisor for Covenant House, managing the 24-hour youth shelter. She brought to PELC a strong belief in volunteerism, community, youth, mentoring and human rights.
