PELC Celebrates Award Winners

Jul 20, 2023

PELC bursaries are presented to learners who show dedication to learning, kindness to other learners, interest and involvement in the community, resilience in their learning journey, personal growth, and completion of a significant learning goal. Our award winners represent all goal paths and PELC programs.

This year’s bursary winners were recognized at our Annual General Meeting in June. Join us in celebrating our superstars!

Kyle Brant

Kyle had been a mechanic, but his interests were really automotive marketing and social media. To make a career change, he joined Inspire and signed up for social media marketing training. He got a placement with C3 Solutions. Kyle has shown his versatility, quickness in learning and continual growth, and is now working with C3 Solutions full time. Congratulations on your dedication, learning achievements and advancing your career goals!

Heather Harper

Heather joined us to focus on her own goals, learning and long-term plans, as well as personal growth, including re-entering employment. With a lot of determination, resilience and a solid sense of humour, we’ve seen Heather work through certifications in interior design, start college prep classes and land a job with a local restaurant. Congrats on your award! We are proud of you!

Jared Johnson

For over a year, Jared has come to the Learning Centre faithfully every Tuesday, whether on his lunch break or after work, to complete his high-school diploma. He took a big risk in overcoming fear of the unknown and starting a new job after six years. No matter how hard the work was, he never gave up on getting his diploma. We’re so proud of how courageously you’ve worked to attain your goals!

Tyler MacKenzie

Tyler came to PELC on a mission to complete his high school diploma. As a single dad, sole provider to his daughter and caregiver to his grandmother, Tyler wanted to do this not only for himself, but for his family. While working on his courses, he never missed a day unless the bus was cancelled or there was a snowstorm. After completing his final four credits — with honours — he is now moving on to the next chapter. Best of luck on your next adventure!

Dakota Stone

Dakota has excelled in learning employment skills and has become a valued team member at the PEC Fresh Good Food Market. Dakota works in the market as a personal shopper and cashier. He loves customer service and is a great colleague. He’s always pleasant and enthusiastic, and remains calm and focused in stressful situations. As his confidence grew, Dakota took on the challenge of learning how to use the Square point-of-sale system, cashing out customers with their groceries. We’re proud of all you’ve accomplished! Congratulations!

He shows consistency and is motivated to complete every assignment. We all look forward to his calm and friendly demeanour. Zack recently received the Beacon of Hope Award, and was the valedictorian for Loyola in Picton. These awards are presented to a student who shows dedication and is a role model to fellow students. Congratulations Zack, we can’t wait to see what’s next!
