Maureen Adams

Director (Past Chair)
Maureen joined the PELC Board of Directors in May 2018 and served as Chair from 2021-2023. Maureen brings with her extensive experience in the community sector, including Director of Advocacy and Communications at the YWCA, 17 years in the Foundation sector as a Vice-President at both the Canadian Women’s Foundation and United Way Toronto, and 10 years at the Ontario Social Assistance Review Board. Her many positions on boards, advisory committees, task forces, and funder collaboratives have given Maureen exceptional governance, strategic leadership, and partnership development and management skills. Her advocacy work has included campaigns on poverty reduction, affordable housing, violence against women and young women’s leadership and empowerment. Maureen also worked as a front-line staff member and advocate in women’s shelters, at a crisis hotline, and with a community legal clinic. Maureen is a strong leader and collaborator, deeply committed to equity and the development of a strong community sector. She has excellent communication skills, a sense of humour, and a passion for social change. She lives just south of Bloomfield.
